Heading down to the coast for a long weekend to escape the heat. Sunday-Tuesday is Khmer New Year, and it’s a good time to travel since most of Phnom Penh empties to the provinces to spend time with their families. This time of year is scattered with all sorts of holidays (New Year, King’s birthday, King Father’s birthday, Plow Day, Buddha’s Birthday etc. I was encouraged by people at work to visit Battambang for Khmer New Year, saying it would be a more “authentic Cambodian experience” than hanging out on the beach for a few days. Probably, but I think I had my fill of the real Cambodia last week. At least for a while. Also, I need to give the area a thorough exploration with the cameras. Maybe updates, maybe not. Back in the city on Wednesday.
